Here's a little bit about our journey- we hope you'll join us in the next chapter of our church!
OUR STORY
-
The Church Plant
The Grove began as a church plant of Trinity Fellowship Church in Richardson, Texas. Fourteen families were sent to reach the lost and share the love of Christ in Rowlett and the surrounding communities around Lake Ray Hubbard and planted as Lake Cities Community Church
-
The Church Without a Building
We began worshiping on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2007 in the birthday party room at the Rowlett Bowl-a-Rama! Over the next five years we met in seven different locations, including a movie theater, a child care center and two elementary schools. During this time God was faithful and in spite of changing locations our church grew and became established.
-
The Church With a Building
In 2012 God opened the door for us to purchase property at 8601 Liberty Grove in Rowlett which is where you will find us now.
-
The Merger with Eastern Hills Baptist Church
In May of 2020, God opened new doors of opportunity to expand our impact on this region by a merger with Eastern Hills Baptist Church and growing the Lake Cities family!
-
The grove community church
As of January 1st 2024, Lake Cities became The Grove Community Church to reflect the unified spirit of the previous merger and lead into the future God has in store for the church.
-
The Church Today
Our story is an ongoing adventure of faith - regular people gathering to worship the Lord and growing together in our faith in a community of love, with a strong commitment to share the good news that has so profoundly impacted us.
-
Our Future
We are bursting at the seams, so we have plans to build a new facility. The wheels are in motion for us to expand on our existing 3.5 acres, so that we can create a new, multi-purpose facility that serves both the current church needs as well as ministering to the public, with for-profit and non-profit partners that use our facility during the week (this includes a day care center, a coffeeshop, co-working spaces, and indoor and outdoor spaces. We are excited to see what God will do in this new season in our story.
